Tournament of Minds is one of the fastest growing international school programs with the involvement of thousands of participants. This state-wide competition is held annually and Kingston Primary has been competing very successfully since 2001. The competition involves teams of seven students working together on an open-ended challenge. They have six weeks to solve the problem, with minimal assistance from their teachers. They create characters and a script, learn their lines and creatively present their solution to the judges and audience on the day of the competition. The team has 10 minutes to present their play, which is done within a 3 by 3 metre square.
This program is offered as an extension opportunity and relies upon good lateral and creative thinking, time management, extended problem–solving, sustained effort, teamwork and co-operation.
